ST. PETERSBURG, Dec 27 (PRIME) -- Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus, the plant of South Korean carmaker Hyundai in St. Petersburg, raised its car production by 6.5% on the year to 234,000 in 2021 and will raise it to 240,000 in 2022, Hyundai Motor CIS said in a statement on Monday.

The major event of the year for the plant was the launch of production of the second generation Hyundai Creta crossover utility vehicles, which has become the most localized Hyundai car produced in Russia.

Although the Russian market is the plant’s priority, it has been raising exports for several years. In 2021, the plant’s exports to the CIS countries grew by 25% to 24,000 cars and vehicle assembly kits.
